We met Chief Theresa Malila, Executive Director & Founder of Somebody Cares-Malawi many years ago on a visit to Malawi. The African Mother Theresa, as the people call her, started her ministry to comfort, feed, care, and pray for the sick, dying, elderly, widowed, and orphaned in communities in & around Lilongwe, Malawi. Of its 15.6 million people, 85% live in rural areas (as subsistence farmers) where the population density is one of the highest in Africa. Today, Somebody Cares ministers & supports over 30 communities with over 10,000 orphans. As well as provides care to the widows & patients in their Home Based Care program. It is astounding the amount of care that Chief Theresa & her small staff give on a daily basis. Their challenges are immense, but we believe Somebody Cares is making a huge difference in the lives of their people.

We know that community development happens best when local people are engaged in their own development process. Before a water system is provided in community, our in-country partner, Global CHE Enterprises, has already established a relationship with the community in need. The community has agreed to and assigned a water commission and they have decided collectively where their new system will be located. This equips the communities to begin to develop the tools necessary for lasting change.

HOPE Outreach Center, Inc. is a not-for-profit 501c(3)  community organization founded in 1995.  The Davie-based center offers an immediate 'hand up' to people in the community who find themselves suddenly unable to make ends meet due to:  job loss, disability, health crisis, and/or some other emergency circumstance.  By providing emergent financial support, food and other educational and social services, HOPE Outreach Center often serves as the financial and emotional bridge that allows families in crisis to return to self-reliance and independence quickly and comfortably.

We have been privileged to serve alongside this wonderful community for many years with our friends and partners at HOPE Outreach
